Many high-rise office buildings utilize large fan and heating and cooling systems as designed for optimum building operation. Each fan system serves several floors or a section of several floors. Generally, these mechanical systems are shut off weekends and in the evening when the building is not in use. However, quite often, some tenants require after-hours cooling. This is usually difficult and sometimes expensive to provide, especially if the particular tenant occupies a small area in the building. Recently, an analysis was made for various means of providing after-hours cooling. This article summarizes six efficient methods for providing this service. (auth)
