Interferometry of the supernova remnant CTB 1

Interferometric observations of the faint nebula representing a supernova remnant identified with the radio source CTB 1 have been carried out with a contact image converter. The mean radial velocity of the object relative to the Local Standard of Rest is -33 +- 2 km/sec, yielding an improved distance of 2.6 +- 0.5 kpc. The corresponding radius of the nebula is 15 pc. The object is located within a neutral-hydrogen cloud near an H II zone. A provisional estimate is obtained for the expansion velocity of the envelope.
