Energy levels of /sup 57/ /sup 59/ /sup 61/Co using the /sup 60/ /sup 62/ /sup 64/Ni(p,. cap alpha. ) reaction and level densities of cobalt isotopes

..cap alpha.. particles from the /sup 60/,/sup 62/,/sup 64/Ni(p,..cap alpha..) reactions were analyzed with the Notre Dame modified 100 cm broad-range magnetic spectrograph. Data were taken at bombarding energies of 13 to 16 MeV and at observations angles of 16 to 140degree. Approximately 125 new levels were observed and uncertainties in excitation energies average 1.3 keV. Systematics of the (p,..cap alpha..) reaction on the cobalt isotopes have been used to discuss spin assignments to several states in /sup 61/Co. Level densities and energy spacings are calculated for all the cobalt isotopes from A=55 to A=61. (AIP)
