The evaluation of surface geometry modification to improve the directional selectivity of solar energy collectors. Annual progress report, 1 Jan--31 Dec 1974

The performance of a flat plate solar energy collector can be greatly enhanced with the addition of spectrally (wavelength) and or directionally selective surfaces. Moderately concentrating collectors composed of parallel, east-west oriented, stationary, trapezoidal grooves are discussed. Computer simulations of radiative behavior with direct beam solar incidence are verified by model testing.
