Observation of excited states in /sup 206/Hg

We investigated /sup 206/Hg, the missing link for particle--vibration coupling studies around /sup 208/Pb. In /sup 18/ /sup 17/O- induced reactions on /sup 204/Hg we identified ..gamma.. rays from states at 1.068 and 2.102 MeV in /sup 206/Hg. Relying on theoretical arguments, we propose spins 2/sup +/ and 4/sup +/, respectively. (AIP)
