The nature and disposal practices for municipal and utility sludges and ashes were studied. The study was primarily concerned with the sludges from municipal waste water, and water treatment plant, coal ash from power stations and grate residue from municipal incinerators. Each of these subject areas is presented in a separate report. Volume I of this series presents the summary for the results and conclusions developed for each of the subject areas. (GRA)
