Overlapping 10/sup +/ and 12/sup +/ resonances near E/sub c. m. / = 18. 5 MeV in /sup 12/C + /sup 12/C

The confusing situation near E/sub c.m./ = 18.5 MeV in /sup 12/C + /sup 12/C can be understood as arising from the presence of overlapping 10/sup +/ and 12/sup +/ resonances, both of which are exhibited in /sup 12/C(/sup 12/C,..cap alpha..)/sup 20/Ne (g.s.). The presence of both in /sup 12/C(/sup 12/C,/sup 8/Be)/sup 16/O (g.s.) has been previously reported by Fletcher et al. (AIP)
