Characteristics of ion transport in cubic single crystals of zirconium dioxide stabilized with yttrium oxide

The singularities of Y/sub 2/O/sub 3/ stabilized ZrO/sub 2/ anion displacement energetics as a function of temperature were investigated. It was found that ion conductivity in this compound is of the volume type. The activation energy for displacement of F centers has a value of 0.75 eV. This value agrees with the value for defect-migration enthalpy calculated from electric conductivity data. (JRD)
