Scattering of 6 MeV protons by /sup 54/Cr. [Hauser-Feshbach theory, optical model, distorted-wave method, deformation parameter, differential cross sections]

Elastic and inelastic proton scattering processes (E equals 6 MeV) are discussed for /sup 54/Cr within the framework of the Hauser-Feshbach theory, the optical model, the distorted-wave method, and the coupled-channel method. The deformation parameter ..beta../sub 2/ was determined. The low-lying states of /sup 54/Cr are not correctly described by a three-channel rotational model or a six-channel vibrational one.
