U. S. energy supply and reserve estimation of geothermal steam projects

Conference · · Geotherm. Energy Mag.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7336369
Five factors that make geothermal development attractive are discussed, namely: declining oil production and reserves; declining gas production and reserves; total energy outlook through 1990; price is over $14.00 per barrel for foreign imported oil or natural gasoline products; and known geothermal areas in the western U.S. The art of estimating reserves from steam-dominated geothermal reservoirs, such as The Geysers in California, is reviewed. A typical economic evaluation of a geothermal steam project is given. (MHR)
