Drift-dissipative instability in an rf-discharge plasma in a magnetic field

Experimental data are reported on the dispersion relation and range of existence of unstable oscillations (ion-acoustic and drift) for the case of the drift-dissipative instability mechanism. The results were found for the weakly ionized, nonisothermal plasma of an rf discharge in a magnetic field. The plasma was inhomogeneous in density. Good agreement is found between theory and experiment. (AIP)
