Title: Four-color narrow-band photoelectric observations of the Wolf--Rayet eclipsing binary star CV SER

Journal Article · · Astrophysics (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:7335499

The system CV Ser (WC7 + BO) does not display brightness variation in the continuum at lambda4795 and lambda6320 exceeding 0.05m. The intensity of the emission at lambda4653 (CII-CIV, NIII) periodically varies by 0.5m. The intensity variation of the emission at lambda6563 (H/sub ..cap alpha../ + HeII) does not exceed 0.1m-0.15m. The inclination of the orbital plane in the CV Ser system is 60/sup 0/ less than i less than 77/sup 0/, which, in combination with the spectroscopic-observation data of Cowley et al. permits an estimate of the mass of the WC7 star: 5.9 M/sub solar mass/ less than mWC/sub 7/ less than 8.4 M/sub solar mass/.
