The trapping of cosmic rays around supernovae by plasma instabilities. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7333812
Cosmic rays escaping from supernovae as sources set up hydromagnetic instabilities. The instabilities can trap the cosmic rays in the neighborhood of the supernova until they are adiabatically decompressed. The importance of these instabilities for theories of supernova origin of cosmic rays are discussed. (GRA)
