Propagation of cosmic rays through a plasma
The theory of the coupling of energetic particles to a plasma by Alfven wave instabilities is described. The theory is applied to the problem of propagation of cosmic rays through the interstellar plasma and to the problem of trapping of cosmic rays in an expanding bubble of plasma produced by a supernova explosion.
