State energies of. cap alpha. -cluster nuclei of the sd shell in the Brink model. [Nucleon-nucleon interaction]

The binding energies of /sup 20/Ne, /sup 24/Mg, /sup 28/Si, and /sup 32/S and the energies of the lowest lying rotational bands of /sup 20/Ne and /sup 24/Mg were calculated on the basis of the Brink alpha-cluster model. Such energy calculations give a microscopic basis for choosing the alpha structure for a given nucleus and for reaching definite conclusions regarding the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction used.
