Journal Article · · Ocean Ind.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7328329
Approximately 75 percent of the 67 miles of 42-in. diameter pipe was laid during 1976 on the High Island Offshore System (HIOS), the largest ever laid in the Gulf of Mexico. The 42-in. pipe was being laid from West Cameron Block 167 to High Island Block 264 at an estimated cost of $93,738,000. Total cost of HIOS is estimated to be $353 million. It will extend 150 miles offshore and will have a certified capacity of 988 MMcfd which can later be expanded to 2000 MMcfd. The system includes 203 miles of offshore pipelines: 67 miles of 42-in. diameter pipe; 26 miles of 36-in. diameter pipe from High Island Blocks 343 to 264; 15 miles of 30-in. diameter pipe from High Island Blocks 330 to 343; 41 miles of 30-in. line from High Island Blocks 573 to 264; and 54.5 miles of 30-in. line from High Island Blocks 582 to 264. Partners in HIOS are American Natural Offshore Co.; Natoco, Inc.; Texam Offshore Gas Transmission; Transco Offshore Pipeline Co.; and Texas Offshore Pipeline System.
