General comments on nuclear radiation hardening for the SCAD. Technical report
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:7323113
The nuclear radiation environment in which the SCAD must function can produce transient and permanent system effects through component radiation response. The general procedure when considering nuclear survival involves the following three steps: (1) a study of system to estimate the nuclear radiation vulnerability levels; (2) verification of the vulnerability estimates that fall below the nuclear specification; (3) hardening the system or other corrective measures as required. The report reviews some of the effects considerations, vulnerability assessment procedures, computer-aided vulnerability evaluation techniques, and nuclear hardening.
