Forwarding health and safety in coal mining by use of watering methods

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7320523
Some sources of dust and practical methods of employing water to allay dust in bituminous-coal mines (one of most effective of known methods) are discussed as a precaution against propagation and spreading of explosions and harmful effects of breathing coal dust. Remedy for dustiness is to prevent formation of dust at source insofar as possible and to provide adequate ventilation to remove or dilute not only explosive gases but any dust that might be formed in spite of effort to kill it at source.
