Photoinduced effect on the permeability of some mixed garnets

A photoinduced decrease in permeability at 77 K was investigated for the polycrystalline mixed garnets of (Y/sub 1//sub - x/R/sub x/)/sub 3/Fe/sub 5/O/sub 12/ with 0< or =x< or =1 and R=Eu, Yb, Ho, Tm, Gd, Tb, and Er. The change of the effect is interpreted as simply due to the change in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the host material.
