Studying the structure of an electron beam in a betatron by means of synchrotron radiation

An SFR-2M streak camera operating in the sweep and time-magnifier regimes was used to obtain images of an electron beam having an energy greater than or equal to 25 MeV in a pulsed coreless betatron. The effect of remanent gas in the vacuum chamber on the beam cross section was determined experimentally. Resonance buildup of betatron oscillations for a change in the position of the equilibrium orbit was revealed.
