I atom bimolecular quenching by O/sub 2/, H/sub 2/O, H/sub 2/O/sub 2/, and H/sub 2/. Final report, Feb--Jun 1975

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7318210
Iodine atom quenching rates in the presence of n-C/sub 3/F/sub 7/I, H/sub 2/, O/sub 2/, H/sub 2/O, H/sub 2/O/sub 2/ have been measured. Electronically excited I((2) P(1/2)) atoms were produced by laser photodissociation of n-C/sub 3/F/sub 7/I at approximately 2985A using a frequency doubled flashlamp pumped dye laser. The concentration of I((2) P(1/2)) is directly monitored by observing 1.315 micrometer fluorescence, using a liquid N/sub 2/ cooled Ge photovoltaic detector. Fluorescence signals were digitized and signal averaged. Simple biomolecular quenching rates were measured for n-C/sub 3/F/sub 7/I, H/sub 2/ and H/sub 2/O.
