San Diego County, Calif., will convert all the urban solid wastes of Escondido and San Marcos, Calif., into fuel oil by pyrolysis and will then sell the oil as fuel for boilers in generating plants. San Diego County will add $1,050,000 to a $2,962,710 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and will build a facility to convert the wastes to oil. Between $200,000/yr and $300,000/yr in revenue is expected from the sale of facility products (including ferrous metals and glass).
