Remote sensing of oil slicks with microwave radiometer
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:7307989
The microwave radiometer was used to detect the oil slick on the surface of the sea, to map the volume, thickness and total area of the oil slick, and to identify the oil type. Its performance is assessed using experimental results from helicopter flight over the Baltic Sea with flying altitudes from 10 to 30 m at speeds from 10 sea miles/h to 30 sea miles/h. (GRA)
