Gas equilibria in the coal stall at 700 atm at Scholven III

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7307575
The equilibria calculated and investigated were as follows: 1) relationship between the H/sub 2/ partial pressure at the converter inlet to the amount of gas at the converter inlet; 2) relationship between H/sub 2/ partial pressure at the converter inlet to the amount of gas sent to the Linde installation; 3) the effect of increasing CO content in the fresh gas (a) with constant oil scrubbing, and (b) with 26,500 m/sup 3/ of gas sent to the Linde installation; 4) the amount of wash oil in relationship to the CO content at about 590 atm H/sub 2/ partial pressure. A coal through-put of 55.5 tons/hr was presupposed and a gasoline production of 250,000 tons/yr with 16,400 tons/yr C/sub 4/H/sub 10/, 34,800 tons/yr C/sub 3/H/sub 8/, 24,900 tons/yr C/sub 2/H/sub 6/, and 21,300 tons/yr CH/sub 4/. Solubilities at 700 atm were given for H/sub 2/, CO and N/sub 2/, CO and H/sub 2/S, CH/sub 4/, C/sub 2/H/sub 6/, C/sub 3/H/sub 8/, and C/sub 4/H/sub 10/ in the HOLD (dynamic), catchpot (dynamic and static), and the wash oil (static and dynamic). Compositions and partial pressures at the converter inlet were given for H/sub 2/, CO, N/sub 2/, CH/sub 4/, C/sub 2/H/sub 6/, C/sub 3/H/sub 8/, C/sub 4/H/sub 10/, CO/sub 2/ and H/sub 2/S for the oil scrubbing (166.5 m/sup 3//hr and .15% CO in the fresh gas) and the Linde fraction (26,500 m/sup 3//hr and .15% CO in the fresh gas). A graphy of the hydrogen partial pressure and five tables concerning gas equilibria in the liquid phase at 700 atm were given.
