In rebuilding the power plant at their Kotka site, Enso-Gutzeit Oy chose a Valmet Damatic XD automation system, which links the new and existing sections of the power station with the pulp and paper mills which it serves, from a single control room. In Finland, for nearly twenty years, the desire on the part of industry to produce energy more efficiently has focussed on natural gas and the building of gas turbine power plants. Thus forest products and paper group Enso-Gutzeit elected to rebuild their power plant with a gas turbine CHP (combined heat and power) system. 2 figs.
