Electric energy systems program: linking sources and uses
ERDA was created to provide a national focus on energy technology. Within ERDA, one group, the Electric Energy Systems (EES) Division, is specifically concerned with the U.S. electric energy system. The EES Division and its role in and program for research, development, and demonstration are described. The challenges and opportunities presented by the requirements which must be met by the U.S. electric energy system, including the need for an R and D program in this area are discussed. The EES Division is described in terms of its current role, history, and technical capabilities. EES' R and D program is reviewed, including its focus and objectives, elements, organization, development, and implementation. A brief perspective on the future of the U.S. electric energy system is presented.
