This sixth edition of the Program Information Notice (PIN) has been revised and expanded to provide readers with a more comprehensive view of the Electric Energy System Division (EES) program. The basic purpose of the notice is to inform interested organizations and individuals of EES's progress in research and development specifically concerned with the Nation's electric energy system. The introduction includes a brief history of EES and its program objectives and strategies. The organization of EES is discussed and related to the technical research areas. The notice contains a synopsis of the major areas, subsequent summaries of the research projects under each area, and published reports resulting from past efforts.
