Oil recovery with a drive comprising surfactants and minute solids. [suspension of carbon black, surfactants, and water]
Patent

OSTI ID:7301174
A suspension of carbon black (Philblack I), a nonionic oil-displacing surfactant (Igepal CO-530), a nonionic dispersing surfactant (Igepal CO-990), and water was proposed for tertiary oil recovery. Igepal CO-530 is a nonyl phenoxy polyethanol with 6 to 6.5 units of ethylene oxide. Igepal CO-990 is also a nonyl phenoxy polyethanol, but has 95 to 100 units of ethylene oxide. Discs of oil-wet Burbank sand were waterflooded and treated with the suspension. Recoveries of at least 50 percent OIP were obtained.
