Aqueous fluid drive oil recovery process
Patent

OSTI ID:7299554
A preslug of an aqueous solution containing a clay-coating material (calcium lignosulfonate) was injected into sand packs before an aqueous slug of Igepal CO-530 (nonylphenoxy polyethanol, 6 to 6.5 units ethylene oxide) and a surfactant carrier (Philblack I). The packs of sand from the Burbank Field in Osage and Kay Counties, Okla., had a porosity of 35 to 40 percent and contained 15 to 20 percent clay. Burbank oil (38 API, 6.8 cp at 78/sup 0/F) was used to saturate the packs. They were waterflooded with brine. The above enhanced oil recovery treatment produced 16.5 percent residual oil.
