This paper reports method for converting apparatus that includes an injector and a stuffing box which are normally adapted for inserting and withdrawing reel tubing from a wellbore to an apparatus for inserting and withdrawing wireline from the wellbore. It comprises: inserting an adapted tube though the injector, connecting the lower end of the adapter tube to the stuffing box, connecting the upper end of the adapted tube to a lubricating assembly for the wireline, and convecting the stuffing box to accommodate the wireline. This paper also describes a stuffing box. It comprises: tubular housing means, and adapter sleeve having a stepped main body portion and a reduced diameter portion.
