Duoplasmatron formation of He/sup + +/ ions

Experiments concerning the He/sup + +/ formation with a duoplasmatron are presented. The measurements for choosing the suitable parameters of the source were made with a test setup located immediately after extraction electrode of the source. A method for estimation of the partial H/sub 2//sup +/ and He/sup + +/ currents is proposed. The mass analysis was made alternately for hydrogen and helium in the source and for a mixture of both in the expansion cup. With equal partial pressures of helium and hydrogen inside the plasma cup, the analyzed He/sup +/ peak does not change, the H/sup +/ peak increases by 30 percent, and the (He/sup + +/ + H/sub 2//sup +/) by 75 percent.
