The results of the study have shown that in the channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus): a single intraperitoneal injection of 15 mg/kg methyl mercuric chloride caused deposition of mercury in the kidney; inhibition of histochemically localized succinic dehydrogenase activity; and marked pathology as evidenced by necrosis of renal tubular cells and increased thickening of renal glomerular basement membrane.
