A linear model was designed to study the influx of non-local workers and their distribution among the communities surrounding a large energy construction project in order to investigate how the nature of the project and the characteristics of the communities affect the number of new workers needed and where they will live. The study sought to determine a basis for assessing local impacts from the project and community sizes and their spatial relationships. Results indicate that, while generalizations are useful for regional analyses of numerous projects, more detailed information is required to assess the impact of any one project on a specific area.
