Studies on some physical properties of the solid solutions, Ln/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0. 1x/

Journal Article · · Mater. Res. Bull.; (United States)
The magnetic and electrical properties of the solid solutions, Ln/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ (Ln : La, Nd, Eu and Gd) were studied in the temperature range of 77 to 300K. All the solid solutions examined exhibited a metal-insulator transition at some value of x. La/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ was an antiferromagnet at a value of x at a low temperature. Both Nd/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ and Eu/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ were antiferromagnets having weak ferromagnetism at a low value of x at a low temperature. At a high value of x, three of the above mentioned solid solutions were only paramagnetic in the measured temperature range, as was Gd/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ for all values of x.
