System Eu/sub 2/O/sub 3/--SrO--V/sub 2/O/sub 3/ at 1400/sup 0/C

Phase relations in a portion of the system Eu/sub 2/O/sub 3/--SrO--V/sub 2/O/sub 3/ were investigated at 1400/sup 0/C and reduced pressure (10/sup -4/ mm Hg). On heating, part of the trivalent vanadium was oxidized to the tetravalent state by atmospheric oxygen. The following ternary-phase solid solutions were identified: Eu/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/, SrO . 2Eu/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/ and SrO . Eu/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/VO/sub 3-0.1x/.
