Observed retardation of the E2 transitions in the backbending region of /sup 134/Ce. [Lifetimes, feeding times]

The yrast states of /sup 134/Ce were populated via the reaction /sup 122/Sn(/sup 16/O,4n..gamma..) at a bombarding energy of 76 MeV and the time distributions of the ..gamma.. decay were measured by means of the plunger method. The deduced lifetimes and feeding times indicate a drastic retardation of the electromagnetic transition rates in the backbending region. (AIP)
