Thermoelectric effect in pseudobinary solutions based on lead sulfides

The thermoelectric emf has been measured for the pseudobinary solutions PbS--PbSe with up to 20 mole percent of PbSe and PbS--PbTe with up to 10 mole percent of PbTe. It was established that by increasing the percentage content of PbSe and PbTe in PbS one can achieve a more appreciable increase in the thermoelectric emf relative to n-PbS. This is connected with an increase in the effective electron mass, which in turn leads to an increase in the thermoelectric efficiency of solid solutions based on n-PbS.
