Testing the muon number conservation law in anti nu/sub. mu. / + e-. Technical report No. 76-117
The validity of the multiplicative muon number conservation law is tested by comparing the quasi-elastic reactions anti ..nu../sub ..mu../ + e/sup -/ ..-->.. ..mu../sup -/ + anti ..nu../sub e/ and ..nu../sub ..mu../ + e/sup -/ ..-->.. ..mu../sup -/ + ..nu../sub e/ at Fermi-Lab energies. It is noted that the measured electron spectrum in muon decay places strong constraints on the effective Lagrangian for the anti ..nu../sub ..mu../-inducted process.
