Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7271089
An overview of the planning framework used to develop Gas Research Institute's (GRI) research and development (R D) program is presented at the beginning of this volume. It discusses major R D policies, principles, and guidelines; overall objectives and direction; the methodology for project appraisal and budget formulation; impacts of recent national developments; recommendations from advisory bodies; and implementation of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's guidelines within which GRI operates. An overview of the 1987 R D budget and program direction resulting from the planning process is presented in the second chapter. Separate chapters further detail the R D rationale, objectives, goals, accomplishments, strategies, and milestones for three main research areas: Supply Options, End Use, and Gas Operations, and for GRI's Crosscutting Research. Another chapter focuses on the expanded Basic Research Program established to ensure the existence of knowledge base for future innovation. Three appendixes include the rosters of member companies, major advisory bodies, and professional staff; project level budget and research objective summaries for 1987; and a glossary of frequently used terms.
