Standard method for sampling stacks for particulate matter

A procedure is described for sampling particulate matter in a moving gas stream in confined spaces. The procedure describes a method standardized within limits of the many conditions encountered in the normal course of sampling stacks. The apparatus described has been selected for sampling that permits a change in the collecting elements under stated conditions. The collector recommended is shown, and its use to obtain satisfactory results is described. The procedure described includes use of particulate filtering systems located in the stacks. With proper use, the systems are satisfactory for determining the weight concentration of particulate matter in a gas stream at stack conditions. (BLM)
