Mineral resources of the Fifty Mile Mountain Wilderness Study Area, Kane County, Utah

The US Geological Survey and the US Bureau of Mines appraised the mineral resources and mineral resource potential of this area in south-central Utah near the Arizona border. No economic or marginally economic reserves or inferred resources are identified in the study area. There are, however, inferred subeconomic resources of sand, gravel, and sandstone. The mineral resource potential for coal and titanium is high except in the southwesternmost part of the study area, which has no potential for either commodity. The mineral resource potential for uranium is high in the north-central part and southeastern tip of the study area and moderate elsewhere. The potential for undiscovered geothermal, oil, gas, and carbon dioxide resources is moderate. The potential for undiscovered metals, excluding uranium and titanium, is low.
