The problem is considered of the decay of the initial density and velocity discontinuity in a plasma with cold ions and hot electrons. It is shown that the equations of two-stream hydrodynamics should be used to describe the evolution of such a discontinuity. The region of initial values of the plasma parameters, u/sub -/--u/sub +/ and N/sub -//N/sub +/ is found in which the self-similar solutions obtained are applicable. The stability of the resultant solutions is investigated.
