Process heat requirements of 20 industries were identified and characterized according to quantity, temperature range, and form. Concepts for solar thermal energy systems were evaluated with respect to expected performance and cost in industrial applications. A preliminary assessment was made of related nontechnical issues, i.e., economic, institutional, legal, and environmental. Volume 1 contains a summary of the methodology and results of the entire project.
