U. S. energy balance of trade, 1963--1967

The energy embodied in imported and exported goods and services for the United States in 1963, 1967, and 1973 has been determined. Despite the fact that net imports of fuels increased drastically, the energy embodied in imported goods changed very little (averaging about 6 percent of domestic production), and imports and exports of goods remained in nearly complete energy balance.
