Site selection remains key to success in horizontal-well operations

As the techniques for drilling horizontal wells have improved, the costs have decreased to levels lower than originally expected. The problem now is not if drilling these wells is technically feasible, but where should these wells be drilled to ensure economic success. This is the second of a series of six articles on horizontal well production that began in the Oil and Gas Journal on Feb. 29.
