Method of air/fuel ratio control for internal combustion engine
This patent describes a method of control of an air/fuel ratio of a mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine equipped with an oxygen concentration sensor disposed in an exhaust system for producing an output varying in proportion to an oxygen concentration in an exhaust gas of the engine. The method comprises setting a basic value (T/sub i/) for control of the air/fuel ratio, in accordance with a plurality of engine operating parameters relating to engine load and periodically executing at predetermined intervals a sequence of operations comprises: detecting the air/fuel ratio of the mixture based upon the oxygen concentration sensor output; computing a current first compensation value (K/sub REF/) for compensating an error of the basic value, computing a deviation from a target air/fuel ratio of an air/fuel ratio detected by utilizing the output of the oxygen concentration sensor, computing an output value (T/sub OUT/), determined with respect to the target air/fuel ratio, by a process with comprises compensating the basic value by the current first compensation value and the second compensation value; and; controlling the air/fuel ratio of the mixture supplied to the engine in accordance with the output value.
