Flux quantization and angular momentum in non-Abelian gauge field theories

We study a Yang-Mills field, with gauge group generators L/sub a/ (a = 1, . . . ,n), coupled to self-interacting source fields through a gauge coupling constant e. The following results are obtained: (a) The total angular momentum, defined as Poincare group generators, is the free-field angular momentum plus (1/2..pi..) Q/sub a/Phi-arrow-right/sub a/, where Q/sub a/ is the total charge and Phi/sup k//sub a/ is the total flux of ..delta.. x A/sub a/ in the x/sup k/ direction. (b) There is a choice of )L/sub a/) such that the flux matrix Phi-arrow-right equivalent Phi-arrow-right/sub a/L/sub a/ obeys the quantization condition ((e/2..pi..) Phi/sup 1/,(e/2..pi..) Phi/sup 2/) = (ie/2..pi..) Phi/sup 3/. (c) (e/2..pi..) Phi-arrow-right generates gauge transformations that are equivalent to spatial rotations of asymptotic Higgs fields. (d) For any solution in which (e/2..pi..) Phi-arrow-right not-equal 0, the gauge field is a monopole field with pole strength g = 1/e.
