Mass measurements of the proton-rich nuclei /sup 50/Fe and /sup 54/Ni

The reactions /sup 54/Fe(/sup 4/He,/sup 8/He)/sup 50/Fe and /sup 58/Ni(/sup 4/He,/sup 8/He)/sup 54/Ni have been observed at an incident ..cap alpha.. energy of 110 MeV. The reaction Q values are found to be Q (/sup 50/Fe) = -50.95 +- 0.06 MeV and Q (/sup 54/Ni) = -50.19 +- 0.05 MeV. The experiments provide the first observation and subsequent mass measurement of the proton-rich nuclei /sup 50/Fe and /sup 54/Ni.
