Inventory of energy use in wastewater sludge treatment and disposal

The examination of energy use in wastewater sludge treatment and disposal specifically applies to municipal wastewater, but may be applied with modifications to industrial and water treatment sludges. The cost of sludge processing, disposal processes, and some construction costs are reviewed. The common uses of fuel in a wastewater treatment plant are listed and the processes of thickening, stabilizing, conditioning and dewatering are discussed. (MCW)
