We study the flavor-changing decays of the {ital Z} and {ital Z}{prime} vector bosons of left-right-symmetric ({ital L}-{ital R}) models with a minimal Higgs potential. We find that the branching ratios for the decays {ital Z}{r arrow}{ital q}{sub {ital i}{bar q}{ital j}} in {ital L}-{ital R} models are given, up to terms of order ({ital m}{sub {ital W}{ital L}}{sup 2}/{ital m}{sub {ital W}{ital R}}{sup 2}), by the results already obtained in the standard model, and therefore too small to be measurable. The same behavior is expected for the decays {ital Z}{prime}{r arrow}{ital q}{sub {ital i}{bar q}{ital j}}. We find also that the low-energy bounds on the Majorana-Yukawa leptonic couplings of charged Higgs scalars impose severe constraints on the contributions of these scalars to the lepton-flavor-violating decays of the {ital Z} and {ital Z}{prime}. We conclude that the branching ratios of the latter decays can be appreciable only if the right-handed neutrinos are heavier than {ital W}{sub {ital R}}.
